As an eLearning Instructional Designer, I was having a busy day working on a new course project for one of my clients on Fiverr. I had my headphones on and was deeply engrossed in designing a gamified quiz to help learners retain information better. Suddenly, I heard a notification sound from my computer. I paused the music to check it out. It was an email from Upwork, a popular freelancing platform where I occasionally look for new clients.

The subject line read “Curriculum development – Upwork”. My interest piqued, I opened the email to see the job posting. The client was looking for a freelancer to help them develop a new curriculum for a training program. As I read through the requirements, I realized that it was right up my alley. I had the knowledge, skills, and experience to excel in this project.

The timing couldn’t be better, either. I had just wrapped up a big project, and I was itching for something new to sink my teeth into. I quickly checked my calendar and saw that I had some free time in the coming weeks to work on this project. Without hesitation, I clicked the “apply” button and submitted my proposal.

As I go back to the course project I was working on, I couldn’t shake the excitement of the possibility of working on something new, something challenging, and something that could showcase my skills as an Instructional Designer.
